As the weather gets warmer and the days get longer, the spring sports season at Watchung Hills begins. March 6, 2017 is the first day the spring sports teams gather for their tryouts or practices.

One student stated that she  “cannot wait to start playing with [her] team again,” with several other athletes nodding in agreement. The spring sports offered at Watchung Hills include track and field, lacrosse, softball, baseball, ultimate frisbee, men’s tennis, and golf.

A women’s lacrosse player, Sam Lee, exclaimed, “I’m excited to play the sport I love with all of the people I have been playing with since I was little. I’m excited to get a chance to meet all of the new freshmen hoping to join the team. I think this year it will be different without all of the graduated seniors which means we have to work ten times harder and as a team I hope we can learn to work well together and get farther than we did last year in the championship.”

Spring sports are a great way to interact with students at the school and to build both skills and teamwork. The student athletes have had to train and work hard for this upcoming spring season.

An anonymous track student described her preparation, saying, “In order to hopefully have my mile time where I want it to be, I had to train extremely hard. However, it will be all worth it once I get on the track.” The student athletes at Watchung Hills are competitive, and work hard for a position on the team.

A softball player, Shelly Zoppi, stated, “Last year we [won] states, so hopefully we can work really hard this season to be back and win [again]. We also lost seven seniors so there are many positions in the lineup for new players to replace them. I cannot wait for a successful season and playing time this year.” Hopefully this spring season will be a great success for all the Watchung Hills Warrior teams.
