On January 31st, Watchung Hills Wrestling won again, bouncing back from their first loss of the season against Seton Hall on January 27th. The Warriors are 17-1 this year and won the Somerset County Tournament, with key performances from Jake Stasil, Justin Hayward, and Vince Mattaliano. Stasil won Most Outstanding Wrestler and the 145 pound championship while Hayward won his 100th career match, Rob Saum won his 100th career match and the 152 pound title, and Danny Miller also hit the century mark, giving Watchung Hills three wrestlers with 100 wins. The milestones for Watchung Hills wrestling did not stop there, as Coach Dan Smith recorded 300th career win. Currently ranked 14 in the state, our Wrestling Warriors will no doubt continue to make us proud as they move to possibly win the team’s first sectional title in its history.
